If I work from home and meet with clients, can I write off bathroom home improvements?
I work from home with a consulting business, and we are redoing our one and only bathroom in the home. As my clients use this bathroom while they are meeting with me, can I write the expense of redoing the bathroom off on my taxes as a business expense?
Answer: Form 8829 Expenses for Business Use of Your Home is one of the forms you use at tax time. Your bathroom improvements are an Indirect Expense. Line 19 Repairs and maintenance (Indirect column) is where the total amount would be placed. Indirect expenses are those that affect your household and your business area. In other words, they are not only for your business but are also for your household. Direct Expenses affect only your designated business/office area. You can find this form at www.irs.gov and search Form 8829.

Are there any real work from home jobs online ?
I want to know are there any jobs that people can do from home. I have been reading in many work-at-home books about companies that allow people to work from home, either through the internet and/or telephone. However, I read and heard that many of these jobs are scams. Nevertheless, are there any real and valuable online jobs on the World Wide Web ?
Answer: Yes there definitely are.. but very hard to find. There are some tech support and customer service jobs online that I know of. I personally have worked from home doing remote computer support for almost 3 years now, and honestly thought that there was no way this was a real job after all the fake stuff I ran into, but it's just like any other job where I have a shift and hourly pay, pto and holidays, except my office is in my house and I use the internet to talk to my employer and my customers.
With my job, you need a quiet room and no kids around, so don't think that because you work from home, you're gonna be taking care of your kids and doing household chores during your shift, not gonna happen.
Is anyone currently making money from a legitimate work from home job and if so what company is it?
I am currently a stay at home mom looking to work part-time from home. I am not looking for a get rich quick scheme, I am willing to work. I just need help finding a legitimate company to work for. I was a businesswoman in the workplace for 12 years before I had my children. We need something to supplement my husband's income. In a world that revolves around the internet is seems like there must be ways to make money from it.
Answer: There are real work at home jobs, but they are hard to find because they don't advertise and there are so many home based business opps and affiliate schemes deceptively advertised as jobs. Real home based employers don't need to advertise, because they already have a steady stream of applicants. Most of the real at home jobs are with call centers that hire home based operators for customer service or telemarketing. If you have any specific skills such as bookkeeping/accounting, IT, etc. you have many more home based job options. This article has info on how to find real jobs and links to a few real companies. http://socyberty.com/work/do-home-based-jobs-really-exist/

Is there any work from home opportunity that I can make income online?
I just wanted to see if there is any legit work from home or make extra income websites that are good. I recently lost my job and I am in need of cash. I know that starting a business online is a slow start, but I am willing to work as best as I can to start earning money from home.
Answer: There are many ways to make money online but beware of the many scams out there. A simple way is to start a blog (Wordpress) and then add adsense to it.
It is however more difficult than some would have you believe and it can be quite hard work getting traffic to your site. Without traffic no one clicks on your displayed adds and you dont get paid.

How do I find a legitimate work from home job?
My mom moved in with my husband and I from out of state to help take care of our newborn, but she wants to be able to to help us financially since she is an added expense. But she has no car, and has to be able to stay home and take care of the baby while we work. Working from home is really the only option. With so many scams out there we have no idea how to find legitimate work for her, we live in Colorado. Any ideas?
Answer: well, actually, there are lots of things that you can do from home. the problem is, that none of them are going to bring in the same kind of income as working outside the home or they will take time to do so. these are some of the things that i have tried or someone i know personally has tried.
1) selling cosmetics. you can try avon or mary-kay (i recommend avon over mary-kay because there is a smaller investment and no inventory, but you do have to sell a certain amount to get paid) If you are fun and friendly and enjoy make-up and what not, then it is a good fit. ( www.avon.com or www.marykay.com )
2) answering questions on cha-cha. i dont know if they are busy as they used to be, but my sister worked for them for awhile. people text in questions and you can either rephrase them and check the spelling or move up to answering the questions. you get paid per question. (www.chacha.com i believe)
3) running an in-home daycare or just babysitting a little. just make sure you have a strong spine to do this and make sure you are doing it legally! there are some parents that are awesome and some that will definitely take advantage of you. so be sure to stand your ground and get paper documents on everything!
4) health and wellness education. talk to people on the phone about common health concerns and how to reduce the triggers in their home. you also get paid per account doing this, but get the advantage of a lot of knowledge and helping people. ( www.freedomfortomorrow.com )
5) are you crafty? you can crafts different things and sell them on etsy or ebay. i also have a friend who goes to thrift shops and buys name brand clothes (especially kids clothes) and then resells them for 3 times as much on ebay! ( www.etsy.com or www.ebay.com )
6) independent/direct sales. monavie, pampered chef, premier jewelry, herbal life, etc. if you dont mind the sale aspect, you will do just fine! i know someone who does all of those and manages to bring in at least a little bit each month! ( sorry! dont know all the websites! )
something important for you to understand though is that ALL jobs that allow you to work from home will have some sort of fee with them. it can be for software for your computer, a membership, a percentage of sales, your kit to work, training, a website, etc. its just like having to buy office attire clothes to work in an office building, or non-slip shoes to work in a restaurant, or booth rental to be a hair stylist, etc. beware anything that advertises "free". those are the real scam. just be sure to read the fine print on everything and ask lots of questions!
What are some work-from-home options/ideas for a mother?
Answer: Depending on your background and experiences there are many things you could do. I work remotely from my home office as a VA. There are other things like affiliate marketing and customer service, it is out there but you should probably get started because it takes a lot of time and dedication to get up and running.
